Oxytetracycline 20% Injection

Composition: oxytetracycline 200mg

Pharmacological properties:

    Oxytetracycline is a broad spectrum antibiotic active against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms, and also against rickettsiae, mycoplasmas, chlamidiae and some protozoa. Thanks to its particular composition, it provides therapeutically active blood levels for 3 to 4 days when given at the recommended dose.

Indications:

    Infections caused by oxytetracycline susceptible microorganisms, such as infections of the respiratory tract, gastro-intestinal tract, uro-genital tract, soft tissues, skin and wounds, bacterial infections secondary to viral ones, septicemias, and more particularly:

Cattle:	bronchopneumonias, shipping fever, colibacillosis and diphteria (necrobacillosis)in calves, anaplasmosis, leptospirosis, panaritium, wooden tongue, anthrax.
Sheep, goats:	respiratory infections, foot-rot, navel ill
Pigs:	enzootic pneumonia, atrophic rhinitis, colibacillosis in piglets, leptospirosis, erysipelas, exudative epidermitis.

    

Dosage and administration:

    Intramuscular injection ( or subcutaneous injection in pigets).

    Maximum 25 ml of the solution per injection site.

    Cattle, sheep, goats, swine: 20mg oxytetracycline/kg b.w. or 1ml per 10kg b.w.

    If necessary, treatment should be repeated with an interval of 3 days.

Contra-indications, warnings:

Hypersensitivity to tetracyclines.

    Kidney and/or liver insufficiencies.

    Dosages should not be exceeded in pregnant animals.
