Oxytetracycline 10% Injection

Features:

1) Active ingredients: oxytetracycline hydrochloride 10g

2) Pharmacological properties:

  Oxytetracycline is a broad spectrum antibiotic active against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms, and also against richettsia, mycoplasma, chlamydia and some protozoa.

3) Indications:

   infections caused by oxytetracycline susceptible microorganisms, such as infections of the respiratory tract, gastro-intestinal tract, urogenital tract, soft tissues, skin and wounds, bacterial infections secondary to viral ones, septicaemia, and more particularly:

Cattle:	bronchopneumonia, shipping fever, colibacillosis and diphtheria (necrobacillosis) in calves, anaplasmosis, ;eptospirosis, panaritium, wooden tongue, anthrax
Sheep, goats:	respiratory infections, foot-rot, navel ill.
Pigs:	enzootic pneumonia, atrophic rhinitis, colibacillosis in piglets, leptospirosis, erysipelas, exudative epidermitis

4)Dosage and administration:

  Intramuscular injection- slow intravenous injection.

  Cattle, sheep, goats, swine: 10 mg oxytetracycline/kg b.w. or 1 ml per 10 kg b.w. once per 24 hours or 20 mg oxytetracycline/kg b.w. or 1 ml per 5 kg b.w. once per 36-48 hours.

  If high initial blood levels are desired, it may be given by slow intravenous injection.

5) Contra-indications, warnings:

  Hypersensitivity to tetracyclines.  Kidney and/or liver insufficiencies. Dosages should not be exceeded in pregnant animals.
